SiteDesignNOW.com recommends using PhotoShop or similar software to resize your pictures and images for your ecommerce system, online catalogue system, and newsletter system.
If you do not have PhotoShop we have a very good shareware program you can use. See our Tutorial "How to resize your pictures using IrfranView"
Open PhotoShop
>Create a folder to hold all your images so they are quickly available for use in updating your NOW Catalogue and Email Marketing System.
Open Photoshop
Drag Picture File from Desktop to Photoshop (or Click "File" in Photoshop and "Browse" for the file you want.
Select Save for Web from the PhotoShop drop down Menu under "FILE"
Select Image Size
The box changes as below:
Change Pixel Width to 150 for small photos or 300 - 400 pixels for large photos. These are the best sizes to use in your NOW Catalogue and Email Marketing System, but if you want to experiment with larger sizes keep in mind the loading times.
Enter desired pixel width and Click APPLY
Click SAVE (top of box panel)
Select the Folder you want to save the picture to
Enter File Name (don’t forget to include ID number, description, and Pic Size SM or LG so you can easily identify photo's later.
Try to keep the small picture under 40 Kb and the large under 100 Kb (70Kb best) in order to optimize page loading times . In Photoshop you will find the pic size at the bottom left corner of the frame. The loading time shown is for old style modems and is just a guide.
Getting organized as above is a lot more work at the beginning, but it will save you heaps of frustration and work later when you start adding stock and changing items in your NOWCatalogue and Shopping Cart
